World AIDS Day
Today is World AIDS Day. Each year, December 1 serves as a reminder to pause, recognize and honor those we have lost and the champions who continue to fight HIV/AIDS. We have made such great advancements over the years, and now live in the time of U=U (Undetectable viral rate means the virus is Untransmittable to others). Today is also a reminder of the vital role we at Quest play in promoting education, fighting stigma and addressing health disparities in our communities.
Our wonderful community partners at the Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon (EMO) will commemorate World AIDS Day with a fun-filled evening at Bar Carlo, complete with a raffle and drag performance from Bolivia Carmichaels. The event will be from 6-9 p.m. today, and is open to all.
For those on social media, there is an instagram page, @theaidsmemorial, where people can share their stories and pay tribute to those we've lost. HIV Services will meet virtually at noon today, and welcomes anyone who would like to join to share space.
As the sky grows dark this evening, the Morrison Bridge will light up in red in recognition of World AIDS Day, and Oregon's message of U=U -- Get tested, Get PrEP, Get Treatment.
